The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) was founded in 1972 with its single mission being to improve the quality of the automotive service and repair industry. ASE certified techicians have voluntarily chosen to undergo standardized testing for the certification of automotive technicians.

Today, this Non-Profit Organization has broadened its scope of services to include a means of helping educate consumers, media, and others to make informed decisions when requiring automotive repairs. It is also a resource for both professionals and consumers alike for finding information about automotive topics.
